Grandmother

Feeling held by our Ancient Grandmothers and Grandfathers is our birthright...

Join us for this free interactive class facilitated by Nala Walla & Hanna Leigh.

Feeling held by our Ancient Grandmothers and Grandfathers is our birthright.

Though our overculture may have taught us that they are “gone” or “lost,”  it’s simply not true. Join us as we learn to flex our imaginal “muscles” again to bring elder wisdom and kindness back into our lives in a palpable way.

From her handbuilt earthen sanctuary at the edge of the woods, Nala has been cultivating the old-tyme “wisewoman” skills for decades. Weaving Griefwork and Ancestral Healing, Nala moves us beyond the psychological, and into the realm of Ritual. She specializes in helping people who feel rootless, culturally orphaned, and spiritually homeless reclaim our birthright of belonging to our own ancestors. Through a deeply somatic and liberatory approach towards deconstructing whiteness, we become more rooted in relationship with who we come from, and the lands we where we live.

Your Hosts

 Nala Walla

Nala is director of “The Well, An Oasis for Animist Ritual,” supporting innovative ways of restoring grieving and lamentation culture from around the world. For 25 years, she has been tending the lands and waters of her permaculture homestead, both physically and ritually. Hands in the soil, she is honored to practice a low-tech, ecosomatic lifestyle on an Island beside the Salish Sea, in Washington USA — the traditional lands of the Chimacum and S’Klallam people.

Hanna Leigh

Greetings! My name is Hanna Leigh, (IG: @hannaleighsong) originally from California (Chumash territory). I am a Singer-Songwriter, Voice Doula, Weaver, and Devotee of this precious, living Earth. My people migrated to the U.S. several generations ago from England, Scotland, Norway, Germany and the Netherlands.

For the past several years I have been on an inspired journey to reclaim ancestral wisdom and connect with the indigenous spirit of the “Great Sacred Motherland of Europe” – a term I first heard from activist Lyla June.

This longing for reconnection was the impetus to create a well-loved program called “Songs of Mother Europe”, which features song carriers from all over Europe who still carry the old songs. In the past year we have had over 700 participants in the course, which speaks to me of a collective impulse to remember and preserve ancestral wisdom.

As one of the bonus classes of the special Lullaby Edition of the “Songs of Mother Europe” course, (now in its 5th season!), we are hosting this FREE ancestral healing class for anybody who feels the calling.
Whether you have European heritage or not, you’re welcome to the nourishment of this ancestral healing journey.

“Our songs travel the earth.
We sing to one another.
Not a single note is ever lost and no song is original.
They all come from the same place and go back to a time when only the stones howled.”

Louise Erdrich
