Our Philosophy

Our vision & values as an organization

Weaving Remembrance is for those who are here to co-create a more beautiful world — one rooted in:

ancestral wisdom
belonging
& reverence for life.

In These Potent Times...

In a time when digital connection is constant and technology can pull us away from the rhythms of the Earth, Weaving Remembrance endeavors to authentically connect us to time-tested, slower, and more deeply rooted folk practices and earth-based traditions.

Here we co-create spaces to reweave – both online and in-person – our relationships with the land beneath us, the ancestors behind us, and the communities around us.

Weaving Remembrance was born from and is tended to by a small group of women that recognize the crossroads we are currently at on a global, social and ecological level. We hear and feel the calling to learn and practice harmonious ways of living, for the sake of each other and the Earth.

We honor that each person's path of remembrance is unique and goes at its own pace — shaped by their own roots (known or unknown), migrations, and life stories.

A Calling to Return

Humanity is at a crossroads — a moment that is calling us to return to more harmonious ways of living on this earth. We believe this includes learning from the ancestral traditions of our own roots and cultivating good relations with the peoples and lands we live in through respect, creativity and care. It means acknowledging difficult histories and stepping into our unique parts in the reweaving of healthy cultures.

We aspire to shift away from overconsumption, distraction and division. We turn instead toward the values of respect, simplicity, generosity, kindness, integrity, and togetherness in action — values that help us show up to reweave the village heart that so many of us long for.

Our Core Values

These are the living, breathing values that we aspire to live by and continually return to.

When we slow down to meet the present moment, we remember that our deepest needs are simple: love, community, and connection with the living world within & around us.

Feeding what feeds us, we un-learn extraction and re-learn the sacred cycle of giving back to the land, the ancestors, and the teachers and communities that have shaped us.

We strive to meet ourselves and all beings with tenderness, seeing even the stranger as kin worthy of welcome and care.

We meet the prayers of our hearts with the power of our actions, which means doing what we say, making amends when we fall short, and rooting into a calling far greater than ourselves.

That which weaves us all together asks of us to circle around one great hearth fire, where we honor that we are one human family whose differences, stories, and ancestries are intertwined.

We honor the inherent dignity and vast, unseen story in every person, plant, animal, land, and spirit, and their sovereign right to a thriving life.

Nourishing the Roots

We recognize the extensive devastation and damage done to  the roots of many peoples by vast and long colonial projects. Amidst our learning and unlearning, we hold at the heart and hearth the direct, vital & purposeful importance of unwinding these ways amongst us so that we may heal at the roots, and walk together in remembrance, in relationship, and in service to a more beautiful world.

We honor that each person’s path of remembrance is unique and goes at its own pace. We also recognize that this pace can often be impacted by resource and privilege in having or being able to track ancestral origin knowledge at all.  Many of us know little of where our people resided based on reasons of: familial migrations, forced displacement, enslavement, political diasporas, and countless wars.

Through our work, we aspire to nourish the remembrance of our inherent belonging to earth and ancestral wisdom.

Our Vision

We envision a world of people returning to earth-based living, in harmony with earth and each other…

thriving communities rooted in the rhythms of the land, where daily life is shaped by care, connection, and the sacredness of all beings.

Our Path Forward

We invite you to walk with us in remembrance, in relationship, and in service to a more beautiful world.

On our home page, you will see our current online & in-person offerings.

With humility, we remain in an ongoing study of how to honor the wisdom teachings that we receive and the teachers who entrust them to us. This is a path of love — of remembering what it means to be good people, living in joyful service to Life.

We are also working to establish a physical School of Ancestral Arts — an area of land with homes, shared spaces, and learning structures devoted to this work. This village land project will be a physical place where we practice returning to simple, sacred ways of living in rhythm with the land, the seasons and each other.
